THE STORY

Thiago invited me to capture his proposal to Ash in a #COFFEESHOP!

If you know anything about me, you know I love coffee and I'm a photographer. Putting these two things together on the field is not very easy, though when I'm editing it's very common.

I asked him why he was going to do it at @cafe1eight, and he told me that that was where they went on their first date, and he wanted to make the place even more special for them.

He invited all of her family to join him on his big surprise. On his side, his sister was the only one present because his parents currently live in Mozambique, Africa.

We had the Cafe all to ourselves, and the first thing we did when we got there was to decorate everything. Set up flowers in a vase they made together, put some frames up with pictures of them, make some coffee, light up candles, etc.

Around 25 minutes later they came in for a casual coffee date, but she soon realised that it wasn't a regular afternoon at the shop.

He took a few minutes to tell her why he was doing this and why he wanted her to be his wife, and soon after he knelt down and asked The question everybody came out of the kitchen and celebrated her big YES!

THE PHOTOGRAPHY SIDE OF THINGS

We only had 25 more minutes for the rental of the place, so I pulled them aside to take a couple pictures them. It went pretty smoothly and, of course, they were having a good time, smiling, making each other laugh, etc.

The lighting inside the Cafe wasn't the best, but it was manageable. The pictures through their front glass turned out great because the light reflected on the glass and made the room a little brighter.

THE EXPERIENCE

I absolutely loved combining these two passions in one place, and I definitely want to encourage other couples to do the same thing they did. I grew up knowing Thiago because our parents had worked together, and it was very special to be able to be part of this moment, and to capture it forever.
